Media/Spanish Rotation with Ms. Hale In Kindergarten, students will explore the introductory elements of culture through different centers. Centers will focus on food, clothing, celebrations, and geography. In first grade, students explore cultural elements of Mexico. Second and third graders hone their research skills as they learn about Columbia in second grade and the Dominican Republic in third grade. Students use various print and online resources as they learn about plagiarism, the inquiry process, and bibliographies.
Technology/Spanish Rotation with Ms. Bell Kindergarten Kindergarten students are introduced to being good digital citizens, Internet safety and using technology as a tool. In addition to basic computer skills, students focus on IB themes and the learner profile to investigate and compare their own culture and traditions to others around the world. Activities include using digital media to listen, record observations, and present information. Students learn to use different technology tools and begin a digital portfolio that includes pictures, text documents, and recordings that reflect their learning. First First grade students will utilize technology to foster literacy and explore IB themes, profiles, and concepts. Lessons include activities about digital citizenship and Internet safety, comparing culture and traditions from different countries. Activities include using digital media to learn about the world, and then using technology to create something that teaches others. Students will be introduced to computer programming through a series of basic puzzles and techniques that will help bring the abstract concepts of computer science to them. Second Second graders will build on technology skills and concepts learned in previous years. Lessons include activities about digital citizenship and Internet safety, viewing virtual tours from Spanish speaking countries to better understand the culture and diversity of them. Activities include using digital media to compare life of people in our country to others around the world and to create and present information. Students will focus on basic computer skills that will help them be more independent and productive with using technology in their classroom. In addition, students will be introduced to computer programming through a series of basic puzzles and techniques that will help bring the abstract concepts of computer science to them. Third Third graders will use technology to enhance their learning and bring the world to them. This class will focus on IB attitudes and profiles, cultures and traditions, digital citizenship, and computer science skills. Students will use different applications and programs to investigate, create, and mash together their own digital content. Undertakings include research activities, creating Avatars to teach global information, investigating careers in computer science, and learning basic computer programming.
